Wow what a fantastic few weeks we have had since returning to school. The children have all settled in well and have been getting used to our new routines and class rules.
This term we are learning about the Anglo Saxons. The children have been researching the types of genres Anglo Saxons used to write in and have been exploring the jewellery they would have worn in Art. From this they have created very detailed pencil dictionaries using a variety of shades.
Last week they had lots of fun in science exploring teeth and decay. They are so excited to see the results of their science experiment. Which liquid will have caused the most decay?
Overall it has been a very exciting few weeks!
This term Year 4 have been having brass lessons. On Wednesday afternoon we performed a short concert for our parents. Here is a look at some of our performance.

If all goes to plan you just need to click on the link below and you should be able to read the whole article. Please send us a message to let us know whether it works or not and if not we’ll ask the wonderful Mrs Timmis to help us out! We hope you enjoy this edition and look forward to updating you with future installments. Thank you to TK (editor of the EBPS Gazette) and his journalists/ reporters for all their hard work in producing each issue.

Over the duration of this term we have been learning about the famous shakespeare play, The Tempest. The children have really enjoyed exploring the events of this play and as a result have produced some fantastic pieces of work.
Due to the nature of the way Shakespeare writes we have done lots of drama, which has enabled them to understand the characters thoroughly and the sequence of events. Here are a selection of photos taken over the duration of this term…
This term one of the Year 4 children came up with the idea of producing an EBPS newsletter. The newsletter is called the Gazette and is produced weekly. The Gazette includes a range of features including stories, featured people, crosswords and other interesting pieces of news. We are loving reading it and look forward to the next installment each week! Thank you to the editor and journalists who create such a fantastic publication.
Class 9 had a fantastic afternoon in the sunshine yesterday developing their tennis skills. We were lucky to be joined by Tom, a tennis coach who was able to teach us lots of different activities and games to improve our throwing, catching and hitting skills. We all had lots of fun and made good progress. We are looking forward to practicing more in our PE lessons. Class 10 and 19 are looking forward to their sessions and are hoping the weather is as kind to them!
Welcome back! The term has had an exciting start with an assembly last week from Ben Smith, who ran 401 marathons in 401 days! We are now considering are own versions of his amazing 401 challenge and will keep you posted on our final decision.
We are already in full swing learning about The Tempest and the children are really enjoying getting to know the plot and the characters.
Year 4 are lucky enough to be receiving some specialist tennis coaching this term. Each class will get a full afternoon of skills which will tie into our PE sessions. Please can we take this opportunity to remind you that the children need PE kit in each week, long hair must be tied up and earrings removed for all of our PE lessons. Please speak to your child’s class teacher if you are unsure which days your children has PE on.
